Sustainability Management

CSR and Sustainability Charter

Our corporate philosophy includes slogans like "proposing new value" and "contributing" to people around the world and shows our desire to contribute to society. This leads to sustainability, through our contributions to solving social issues through our business. Based on this belief, we believe that our mission and reason for existence is to create products and services that contribute to solving various social issues.
We established the Sustainability Charter to express this concept in writing and demonstrate it widely both inside and outside our Group, while also establishing the Corporate Code of Conduct and the Sustainability Basic Policy (12 in total) to promote initiatives in each area concerning sustainability.
The Corporate Philosophy, Sustainability Charter, Corporate Code of Conduct, and Sustainability Basic Policy have been approved by the Board of Directors and take precedence in all processes in all businesses of the Niterra Group, including research and development, design, production, procurement of materials, logistics, selection of business partners, and joint ventures and acquisitions.
To promote the realization of a sustainable society, we have established a promotion system and are advancing various initiatives, having expressed our support for international norms, goals, and guidelines such as the UN Global Compact, ISO26000, SDGs, and TCFD, based on our commitment to contribute to solving social issues through our business activities, we have also identified " Key Management Priorities" to drive our efforts forward.

Sustainability Promotion System

Our Group has established the following governance and promotion structure to ensure the effectiveness of sustainability management and to oversee the improvement of corporate value over the medium to long term.
The "Sustainability Committee," established as an advisory body to the Board of Directors, is chaired by an Outside Director and includes outside experts as members, thereby adopting an oversight structure that emphasizes external perspectives. This committee deliberates on matters regarding long-term sustainability management policies and reports its findings to the Board of Directors. Furthermore, the committee aims to improve the quality of sustainability management by conducting discussions based on a long-term perspective, such as inviting additional external experts as necessary.
As for the business execution and promotion structure, six specialized committees have been established on the executive side to develop specific activities in each field of ESG. Important decisions made by each specialized committee are reported to the Board of Directors through the Management Committee. Through this reporting line, critical information such as "Climate Change Response" and "Risk Management" is also shared and reported to the Board of Directors in a timely and appropriate manner. In addition, regarding human rights, which is a highly important theme, a "Human Rights Subcommittee" has been established within the Compliance Committee to verify the effectiveness of human rights due diligence.

Sustainability Awareness-raising Activities

Awareness-raising activities for board members

We distribute SDGs badges to our executives to show our commitment towards the realization of a sustainable society, and we work to raise awareness of SDGs among our employees and the public.

Awareness-raising activities for employees

We conduct training by job classification and video training for all employees, to ensure that each employee is aware, on a daily basis, of the connection between their work and society, and is empowered to take action to contribute to solving social issues through their work. We also continue to send out information through email newsletters and other means.
In addition, we hold two types of Open Talk events, which are voluntary events, one for the entire Group and one for each department. The events for the entire Group are places where members gather across company and department boundaries to exchange opinions on sustainability, and those for each department are places to deepen understanding and discuss sustainability topics that are more closely related to their own work.
